Many years ago Steve and I went to Southern California to attend a conference at Saddleback Church. Man, I am really going to miss doing those things with him. We had a blast. As a side note, we got lost going back to LAX, and at one point he said, "Should we be in Compton?" Once around the airport we couldn't find the rental car place and time was moving closer to our departure. Oh the laughs we have had over Steve telling me to "just ditch the car" by the side of the road so that we could make our flight. He was only kidding, I think, but we missed the flight anyway.
While at the conference we heard Rick Munchow sing the song "My Life Will Worship You." There is a line in the song that says,' Lord you searched me and you know me, there's nothing hidden from your eyes." Wow! God knows me and still loves me. He knows and loves you too!
Psalm 139:1-3 "O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways."
The Bible tells a story about a woman caught in adultery. The law was clear, anyone found in this situation should be stoned to death. The religious crowd saw this as an opportunity to put Jesus on the spot. They dragged this poor woman in front of Him and asked what should be done. Jesus then simply stated "Those of you who are without sin cast the first stone." Jesus then went to the ground and began to draw in the dirt. When he looked up everyone was gone, with the exception of the woman. Jesus inquired about the people and the woman said they had all left. The Lord then forgave her sins and told her to go and live better.
Here is the point that jumps out at me. The only one who could have thrown a stone that day did not! He simply forgave her. Now that's cool!
Never forget, whatever your struggle today, the Lord knows you. He knows where your heart is and he is aware of the hurts and mistakes you have made. He will not give up on you, because He loves you!
Though I still laugh about the car, thankfully God will never "Just ditch you!"
