Romans 8:28, 29 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.”
In previous years I know I've talked a lot about your spiritual SHAPE. It's because it's one of the best tools to examine your life experiences and how they can be used by God in the local church. The basic concept looks at your passions, talents, interests, etc. to find what God may be leading you to do.
In searching for your calling, there are a couple lessons I've learned: 1. Avoid the mistake of trying to force those around you to do what God has called you to do. And don’t look down on them for doing something other than what you think is so important! God is not going to reveal His specific will for another person to you without also telling them.
2. If you think everyone should be doing one particular thing, chances are that is what you are called to do! If you think everyone should be a missionary, then chances are, God might be calling you to be a missionary. If you think everyone should be volunteering at Habitat For Humanity, then that is probably what God is calling you to do!
I'm sure many of you know my position on coming to me with a great idea or suggestion for a new ministry. I have always believed that God gives people a particular burden for a particular reason. I don't think God intends for you to just tell the Pastor about it. If you have the passion, then who better to lead the project or ministry? Of course there are exceptions but most of the successful ministries in the church are led by someone who God gave the idea to. Sometimes we can easily miss what is right in front of us.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Q4U: God is calling. What is He trying to tell you?
