Ephesians 1:4, 5 “For he chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will.”
A man came to my office several years ago and began to tell me of his struggles accepting God’s unconditional love. The events of his life had led him to places he was quite ashamed of, and was positive that even the love of God wasn’t strong enough to overcome his personal demons. He talked to me for a long time when I finally asked him, “Do you think God is able to forgive you of anything?” He was puzzled by my question and had no response. I assured him that God sent Jesus to die for all of our sins. He prayed that day seeking the forgiveness and love of our Lord.
Ephesians 3:17, 18 “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”
How high is God’s love? It is high enough to overlook my sins. Because of Jesus Christ, God is able to forget my failures, my flubs, my sin, and my rebellion. God offers forgiveness through the cross because of His love. He offers you a fresh start. A chance to start over.
Today if you find yourself wrestling with things from your past, like bad decisions or painful actions - then grab hold of the love of God. His love for you runs deep and can take care of anything you bring to Him.
Psalm 40:2 “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”
