Hebrews 2:10 “In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering.”
As we close out the week on belonging, let’s reflect on some vital things about fellowship. God wants you to love your spiritual family. When you have a real affection for others it makes you more like God. The Lord desires all of His children to get along with each other. Though you may not see everything exactly the same, showing respect is a Godly characteristic.
I Peter 2:17 “Respect everyone, and love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God, and respect the king.”
Ecclesia is a term that means “the called ones” and it refers specifically to the church. Remember the church is a family. It isn’t an institution, a building, or an organization. John MacArthur wrote about this. He said, “People talk about how to pick a good church. I say that a good church is more than just caring and sharing. You can get that at AA, the book club, a bar, the country club, the local lodge or even Weight Watchers.”
I hope you see the value of belonging to a great church like Horizon Pointe. We are not perfect, but we try to love God and love people. We want to interact and build relationships with other lovers of God and people.
To wrap up, let’s reflect on the four levels of fellowship: 1. Membership – choosing to belong 2. Friendship – learning to share 3. Partnership – doing your part
4. Kinship – loving believers like family
I John 4:21 “Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.”
Q4U: God is calling. He’s asking if you love Him and love His people?
